In Azerbaijan, it is planned to centralize the management of the entire infrastructure of bus stops. The bill proposed in the Milli Majlis provides for the creation of a single authorized body that will be responsible for their placement, installation, and maintenance throughout the country – both in Baku and in the regions.
Currently, these powers are divided: in the capital, the Agency for Land Transport under the relevant ministry is responsible for the stops, and in the regions – the local executive authorities. According to lawmakers, such a division hinders the implementation of a unified standard and the formation of a systematic approach to the development of transport infrastructure.
The new initiative, which has already been discussed in the parliamentary committee on economic policy, will transfer all powers to one structure. It is expected that this step will not only unify the appearance and location of the stops, but also significantly improve the quality of services in the field of passenger transportation throughout the republic.
