During a working visit to New York, the President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan, spoke at the 7th meeting of the European Corporate Council dedicated to Africa and the Middle East.
Citing Armenian media, he noted in his speech: “Peace is the foundation on which development is built and society prospers.”
After decades of conflict, Armenia has rethought its approaches, making peace establishment a priority. Only such a concept contributes to growth, development, and lifting people out of the grip of poverty. It strengthens democracy, provides citizens with the right to choose, enhances freedom, justice, equality, and security.
About a month ago, the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the United States preliminarily signed an Agreement on Establishing Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington, and also adopted a trilateral declaration on the peace process. This important step was made possible through the personal involvement of President Trump and the consistent efforts of his administration, which put an end to a conflict lasting three decades. As the great son of Africa, Nelson Mandela, said: “Everything seems impossible until it is done”.
After creating conditions for establishing peace, the priority of Armenia’s leadership is to build a modern, competitive, economically developed, and politically stable state. Our greatest wealth is an educated, hardworking, and law-abiding society”.
