30 years later, 14 families returned to their native village of Badara

Khojaly district witnessed a historic event: the first group of former internally displaced persons finally returned to their native village of Badara. This moment marked the long-awaited “Great Return” to their ancestral lands.

The welcoming ceremony for the residents of Badara took place in a warm and solemn atmosphere. 14 families, consisting of 55 people, were the first to return to this village. Simultaneously, another 10 families (42 people) set off for the settlement of Hadrut in the Khojavend district, also marking the beginning of a new stage in the revival of the liberated territories.

These people spent long 30 years in the status of internally displaced persons, living in temporary shelters – dormitories, sanatoriums, children’s camps, as well as in unfinished and administrative buildings. Today, thanks to the brilliant victory of the Azerbaijani army in the Patriotic War under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, they have the opportunity to voluntarily, safely and with dignity return home.

The returning residents expressed deep gratitude to the head of state and the First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva for their comprehensive support and care. Special words of gratitude were addressed to the courageous Azerbaijani army for the liberation of the lands from occupation, and prayers were also offered for the souls of the martyrs who fell for this noble goal.
