The diagnosis of “anthrax” has been confirmed in a resident of the Ikhtamir soum (settlement) of the Arkhangai aimag (region) in Mongolia.

This was reported by the TASS in the aimag center for the study of zoonotic infections.

“The resident of Ikhtamir soum participated in the slaughter of more than 60 heads of cattle and was isolated in the infectious disease department of the aimag hospital with suspected anthrax. Its cutaneous form was confirmed by the analysis. A partial quarantine has been introduced in the territory where the patient’s family lives. As of September 23, no one else has fallen ill, the situation is under control,” the department said.

Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) ruled out the threat of the spread of anthrax in the Russian Federation and recalled that the disease is not transmitted from person to person.

Specialists are constantly carrying out operational monitoring of the epidemiological situation, sanitary and quarantine control is carried out at checkpoints, and the “Perimeter” system is in operation.
