In the first six months of 2025, over $533 million in private remittances were received in Azerbaijan from abroad. This amount is more than twice the volume of funds sent from the country over the same period. These data were presented by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
The overall positive balance of individuals’ cash flows amounted to almost $300 million, which indicates a significant inflow of foreign currency into the country through this channel.
The main source of inflows traditionally remains Russia, from where $214 million was transferred in the first half of the year. The top five countries by the volume of transfers to Azerbaijan also included Turkey ($87.8 million), the United States ($52.1 million), the United Kingdom ($18.8 million), and the United Arab Emirates ($18.6 million).
As for transfers from Azerbaijan, their total amount for the reporting period reached $238.2 million. The most popular destination for sending funds was Turkey, where $68 million was transferred. Significant volumes were also sent to the United States ($40 million), Russia ($22.1 million), Georgia ($13.9 million), and the United Kingdom ($12.3 million).
