Baku. The trial of Armenian citizens accused of the most serious crimes continues in the Baku Military Court. Today’s process was dedicated to reading and examining documents, among which special attention was given to evidence of the use of “white phosphorus” and attacks on civilian population.
One of the key documents concerned the tragic episodes of the April battles of 2016. It detailed injuries and attempts on the lives of civilians, as well as the extensive damage caused to their property.
According to the presented materials, from April 2 to 28, 2016, the Armenian armed forces without any military necessity subjected unprotected settlements of Azerbaijan in Agdam, Terter, Goranboy, Fuzuli, and Agjabedi districts to shelling using large-caliber small arms, mortars, grenade launchers, and artillery. Targets included residential quarters, educational and medical institutions, as well as civilian population. To confirm these facts, photographs from the incident sites were presented to the court.
Further, documents were examined concerning:
- Launching of 122 mm P-4 artillery shells containing “white phosphorus” at Eskipara village in Terter district.
- Murder of Chingiz Salman oglu Gurbanov, posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan.
- Murder of Huseyn Zakir oglu Akberli.
- Many other crimes committed in the former occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that the accused Armenian citizens are charged with crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, including preparation and waging of an aggressive war, genocide, violation of laws and customs of war, terrorism, financing of terrorism, violent seizure and retention of power, as well as a number of other serious offenses.
