Azerbaijan is implementing a strategic initiative to create animal disease-free zones in the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions. This step is aimed at removing barriers to the export of local livestock products and strengthening the country’s transit potential.
This was reported by the Deputy Chairperson of the Food Safety Agency (AQTA) Zakiya Mustafayeva, speaking at the first Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2025).
According to her, the key element of this process is the mass vaccination of agricultural animals, which is already actively underway in the liberated territories.
Mustafayeva emphasized that obtaining the official international status of a disease-free zone will allow Azerbaijani producers to supply their products to world markets without any obstacles. Moreover, this will ensure the free transit of foreign animal-derived goods through the territory of Azerbaijan.
