The international flotilla Global Sumud with pro-Palestinian activists on board, heading to Gaza, has set sail from Tunisia after numerous delays.
According to MİG News, the vessels plan to challenge the blockade of the enclave.
“We are also trying to send a message to the people of Gaza that the world has not forgotten you. When our governments take no action, we have no choice but to take matters into our own hands,” said Swedish eco-activist Greta Thunberg.
The departure was repeatedly postponed due to security issues, delays in the preparation of some vessels, and weather conditions.
It is worth noting that the initiative includes various international groups, such as the “Freedom Flotilla Coalition,” the “Global Gaza Movement,” the “Maghreb Sumud Convoy,” and the Malaysian organization “Sumud Nusantara.” Hundreds of activists from nearly 50 countries are heading to Gaza on board the vessels.
