The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted a large-scale anti-drug operation: dozens of detainees

Forty-two people have been arrested in Georgia on charges of drug-related crimes as a result of a special operation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs over the past day in Tbilisi and the regions.

According to Caliber.Az, citing Georgian media, this is stated in a statement from the department.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, most of the detainees are major drug dealers, and some are accused of illegally acquiring and storing large amounts of drugs.

The detainees include both Georgian citizens and foreigners.

The evidence obtained as a result of the covert investigative actions carried out by court decision, namely audio and video recordings, confirmed that most of the detainees were involved in the drug distribution scheme.

In particular, the perpetrators used an internet application to store drugs in certain locations for the purpose of subsequent sale and sent information about this to persons interested in their acquisition. It was also established that the detainees sold drugs in various ways.

Law enforcement officers seized a particularly large amount of various types of drugs intended for sale on the so-called black market.

Seized: heroin, cocaine, alpha-PVP, buprenorphine, suboxone, methadone, ketamine, mephedrone, MDMA, marijuana and others.

If found guilty, the detainees face imprisonment for up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
