Turkey has achieved a ceasefire in Tripoli: Ibrahim Kalin, head of intelligence, has completed a months-long conflict PHOTO
The efforts of Turkish diplomacy have put an end to the months-long and tense confrontation in the Libyan capital, Tripoli. Thanks to the mediation of Ankara, an agreement on de-escalation was reached between the Government of National Unity and the influential armed group “Rada”.
The key role in the reconciliation was played by the head of the National Intelligence Organization of Turkey (MIT) Ibrahim Kalin. The dialogue process, which intensified after his visit to Tripoli in June, was completed with the signing of an agreement on September 13 after the painstaking work of Turkish specialists.

This mission is part of a broader strategy of Turkey to stabilize the entire Libya. At the end of August, Kalin made a historic visit to Benghazi to meet with the commander of the eastern forces Khalifa Haftar. This step demonstrated Ankara’s intention to maintain a dialogue with all key players in Libya, both in the west and in the east.

The Libyan parties highly appreciated the efforts of Ankara, emphasizing that they consider Turkey the only mediator they trust. Words of gratitude were also expressed to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his commitment to the unity of Libya, and Turkey’s role as a unique mediator has attracted attention on the international arena.
