“A completely wrong path”: Berlin condemns Israel’s ground operation in Gaza

The German government today, on Tuesday, issued a sharp criticism of the resumption of Israel’s ground operation in the city of Gaza. In Berlin, the actions of the Israeli army were called a “completely wrong path” and the parties were called upon to return to the negotiating table.

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadepuhl stated that instead of escalating military action, the focus should be on diplomacy. According to him, Germany insists on the immediate start of negotiations on a ceasefire and the release of hostages.

“The resumption of the offensive on the city of Gaza is… a completely wrong path,” the minister emphasized. “We reject this and have made this clear to the Israeli government.”
