Active Autumn: Baku and Islamabad Agree to Participate in Three Major Parliamentary Forums

Parliamentary ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan will reach a new, more intensive level this autumn. During a telephone conversation, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova and the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Yusuf Reza Gilani exchanged invitations and agreed to participate in three major international conferences.

The schedule of upcoming high-level meetings is as follows:

  • 12-13 October: Trilateral conference of speakers from Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and Turkey in Islamabad.
  • 29 October: International Parliamentary Conference in Baku.
  • 10-12 November: Inter-Parliamentary Conference of Speakers (ISC) also in Islamabad.

During the conversation, the Pakistani side highly appreciated the role of Sahiba Gafarova as the Chair of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement. The speakers confirmed their mutual commitment to deepening cooperation based on the strong historical and cultural ties between the two countries.

The packed schedule of events underscores Baku and Islamabad’s mutual commitment to using parliamentary diplomacy to address regional and global issues.
