In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, they stated that the growing number of countries recognizing the State of Palestine reflects the general will and aspirations of the global community. Beijing once again confirmed its firm support for the Palestinian people.
This assessment was voiced by the official spokesperson of the department Guo Jiakun, commenting on statistics according to which 157 UN member states (over 80%) have recognized Palestine to date. Meanwhile, more than 30 countries, including the United States, Israel, Japan, and Germany, have not yet done so.
The spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized that the Palestinian issue remains the core problem of the Middle East, and the only realistic way to resolve it is the principle of “two states for two peoples”.
In conclusion, Guo Jiakun confirmed that China will continue joint work with the international community. He assured that Beijing will continue to provide “firm support to the Palestinian people in achieving independent statehood” and make efforts to achieve a comprehensive, fair, and long-term settlement of the conflict.
