The Czech government has decided to restrict the entry of Georgian diplomats, which became a response to concerns about the human rights situation in Georgia. This was announced by the head of the Czech Foreign Ministry, Jan Lipavský.

According to the minister’s statement, this decision was approved on his proposal and means the introduction of a visa regime for holders of diplomatic and service passports of Georgia. This step was a reaction by Prague to, as Lipavský put it, “disrespect for human rights, suppression of demonstrations, and the weakening of civil society” observed on the part of the ruling party “Georgian Dream”.
