The European Union expresses growing concern about the distribution of aid burden for Ukraine. The head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, emphasized that the responsibility for resolving the conflict with Russia cannot lie exclusively with Europe, especially in light of Donald Trump’s statements.
Kallas directly stated: «Europe cannot bear the burden of the war in Ukraine alone». She particularly noted the previous promises of former US President Donald Trump about the imminent cessation of hostilities, asking why in this case the entire burden of responsibility should fall on European countries.
These statements came against the backdrop of concerns among European officials who see in Trump’s statements a hint of possible weakening of US involvement in the Ukrainian issue. In their opinion, this could lead to shifting all obligations onto Europe’s shoulders.
In response to such sentiments, Kallas especially emphasized the need for solidarity within the North Atlantic Alliance. She reminded that Washington is the largest and most important ally in NATO, and its active position remains critically important for overall security and conflict resolution.
Thus, Europe calls for a more balanced approach to supporting Ukraine, emphasizing the vital role of the US as a partner.
